Everyone travelling from a non red country must book their test/s prior to arrival in England. You must take a COVID-19 test on or before day 2 for variant surveillance, and depending on your age and vaccination status you may also need to test on or after day 8 to check that you do not have COVID-19. For more information on arrival requirements please click here What are the requirements for arrival into England?
The first test is required on day 2 or before and the second test, if required, is taken on day 8 or after. Collinson offers the 'Day 2 or before' test on your arrival at one of our airport test centres or as a self test option by post. The day you land is day zero, the following day is day one...etc . If you require the second test (day 8 or after), you can book at any of our centres if there is a location more convenient than your arrival airport.
Children under 5 do not need to take either test.
The test should be booked before you travel home so the details can be entered on your Passenger Locator Form. If opting for a test centre, make sure you book your appointment as soon as you can to secure your preferred testing slot on arrival at any of the Collinson test centres.
You can check the different options (either at the Test Centre or Self Test), check out the prices and pre-book your tests in advance by visiting: Collinson Testing Centres
Results are typically available within 48 hours. Due to the requirements and nature of processing tests, which can include occasionally having to re-run tests, we strongly advise making a booking as soon as possible for your arrival test if testing at a Test Centre. Please remember to allow enough time following landing to clear customs and security before your appointment time for the Day 2 or before test. The cost also includes the requirement for genomic sequencing in the event of a positive test.
If you require a day 8 test and test positive on the first test (Day 2 or before), you are not required to take a test on or after day 8. If this occurs, we will not refund part of the package price.
This does not negate quarantine rules for arrivals (if required) and the rules of quarantine allow you to travel to test centres to carry out your tests. You can still choose the option to be released from quarantine early with the Test to Release scheme. This will be an additional cost and you will still be required to test on day 8.
